Benchmark NSE Nifty index was trading 59.95 points up at 9,489.40 in the morning on Friday at around 10.40 am (IST) on the
GST Council's finalisation of tax rates for bulk of the items except six categories.

Among the 51-components in Nifty index, 35 shares were trading in green, while 16 were trading in red in the afternoon trade.
In the Nifty50 index, ITC, Bank of Baroda, YES BankBSE 2.01 %, GrasimBSE 0.86 % Inds., SBI, Hind. Unilever and ACCBSE -0.43 % were among top gainers in morning trade.
On the other hand, Asian PaintsBSE -1.00 %, TCSBSE -1.39 %, Sun PharmaBSE -0.36 %, WiproBSE -0.74 %, Tech MahindraBSE -0.66 %, Eicher MotorsBSE -1.63 %, InfosysBSE -1.24 %, IndusInd BankBSE -0.43 %, Dr Reddys Labs and GAILBSE -0.60 % were trading in red.
