Sensex climbs over 100 points; Nifty50 nears 9,400; Lupin tanks

Domestic equity markets opened in green on Thursday following firm global cues. The 30-shares BSE Sensex was trading over 100 points up at at 30,406 in early trade around 9.25 am (IST), while the NSE Nifty index was up 32 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 9,392. 

Among the 51-components in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in green with Bosch gaining the most 1.42 per cent, followed by Bajaj AutoBSE -0.02 % (up 1 per cent), InfosysBSE 1.36 % (up 0.90 per cent), Asian PaintsBSE 0.87 % (up 0.81 per cent) and IndusInd BankBSE 1.11 % (up 0.78 per cent). 

On the other hand, LupinBSE -6.16 %, Bharti AirtelBSE 0.28 % and Aurobindo PharmaBSE -0.04 % were down 5.95 per cent, 1.81 per cent and 1.44 per cent, respectively. 

Bosch, CiplaBSE -0.68 % and Indian Oil CorporationBSE -0.41 % will announce their financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2017 on Thursday. Q4 results today, 25 May 2017. 

Shares of NHPCBSE 0.52 % were trading 0.69 per cent up at Rs 29.05. The company said the board of directors in its meeting scheduled to be held on May 30, 2017 will consider the proposal for raising of Rs 1756 crore through issuance of 'W' series corporate bonds on private placement basis. 

Gujarat GasBSE -2.11 % was trading nearly 3 per cent down at Rs 728.25. The company’s net profit fell 53.77 per cent to Rs 33.14 crore on 1.75 per cent rise in total income to Rs 1444.82 crore in n Q4 March 2017 over Q4 March 2016.
