Opening Bell – Markets open higher, Nifty below 9650

The BSE Sensex opened higher by 60 points at 31352, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 13 points at 9643 mark.

Bosch is the top Nifty gainer and ITC is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours. 

There are 856 advances, 479 declines and 482 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting a positive bias floating in the market.

Nifty50 has immediate support placed in the range of 9,580-9,600, and if it slips below this support zone, the next support is likely to come around the level of 9,550, while on the upside, resistances are seen in the zone of 9,680-9,700.

The rupee opened at 64.56 per US dollar appreciated by 3 paise. On Thursday, caught in a downward spiral for the third straight session, the rupee depreciated by seven paise to end at a fresh three-week low of 64.59 on steady dollar demand amid deepening global oil rout.

The US stocks mostly closed lower on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 13 points to end at 21,397. The S&P 500 shed one point to finish at 2,435. The tech-heavy index Nasdaq bucked the trend for a second day to close at 6,237 with gains of 3 points. Healthcare stocks exhibited a solid move on the upside, following the release of the draft bill but yielded ground along with the broader markets late in the session.

Asian stocks are trading mixed in early trade on the last day of the week. Japan’s Nikkei 225 has shed 6 points; Hong Kong’s Hang Seng has gained 17 points, while China’s Shanghai Composite has slipped 11 points.
