Nifty closed higher by 37 points at 9653. It had opened at its all-time opening high of 9657 level. Sensex closed higher by 135 points at 31273 levels on Friday.
Hero MotoCorp was the top Nifty gainer, closed higher by 3.1% at Rs 3849.75 per share. GAIL is the top Nifty loser, closed lower by 2.1% at Rs 402.35 per share.
There were 803 advances, 542 declines and 48 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market. BSE mid-cap index has corrected its Monday’s losses and gained 0.72% to close at 14801 levels on Friday. BSE small-cap index closed higher by 0.5% at 15311 levels.
Bank Nifty closed at 23375 levels up by 0.28%. It touched its intraday high of 23453 levels. HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank touched their fresh 52-week highs on Friday.
Infrastructure stocks were buzzing in the markets on Friday. GMR Infra reported decline in its debt by around 20% in its latest financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2016. Other infrastructure stocks like GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited, Gammon Infrastructure Projects Ltd., Gammon India, HCC, Punj Lloyd and Lanco Infra also gained in the range of 5% to 24% on Friday.
Auto stocks were driven by the auto sales data for the month of May. TVS Motor clocks 16% rise in total sales in May. The stock closed higher by around 1% at Rs 540.3 per share. Hero MotoCorp Limited’s sales spiked by 8.7% in the month of May. The stock closed higher by 3.2% at Rs 3849.75 per share.
Nifty Pharma index closed higher by 1.64% at 9254 levels. Cadila Healthcare is top gainer in the index. The stock closed higher by 4.9% at Rs 494.2 per share. Cipla Limited was the second top gainer in the index closed higher by 2.8% at Rs 530.05 on NSE in the Friday’s trading session.
