Opening Bell – Markets welcome GST, ITC marches ahead

The BSE Sensex opened higher by 235 points at 31156, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 67 points at 9587 mark.

ITC is the top Nifty gainer and Wipro is the top Nifty loser in the morning hours. 

There are 983 advances, 456 declines and 454 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting a postive bias floating in the market.

Now going forward Nifty50 index has immediate support placed in the region of 9,440-9460, and if it holds below the region of 9,440-9,460 it may trigger fresh selling towards 9,400 and then 9,390 levels, while on the upside resistances are seen in the zone of 9,550-9,560.

The rupee opened at 64.66 per US dollar depreciated by 8 paise. On Friday, the rupee closed at 64.58 a dollar on Friday, up 0.07%.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Friday after trimming gains in the last few minutes of trading. The Dow and the S&P 500 ended in positive territory, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq pulled back into negative territory. The Dow rose 63 points to 21,350. The S&P 500 gained 4 points to 2,423. The Nasdaq edged down 4 points to 6,140.

Asian stocks were mixed in early trade on Monday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 has surged 37 points; Hong Kong Hang Seng has slipped 43 points, while China’s Shanghai Composite has shed 4 points.
